Got a summer salad with blueberries, pecans, spring greens and smoked chicken which was wonderful! I appreciated having a different and lighter option. Hubs had traditional BBQ which he really enjoyed - he got mashed potatoes as a side which were OK but he raved about the brisket, chicken and beans. My son got a fried chicken sandwich, it was also outstanding. Well fried and seasoned with crispy bacon. He got fried okra as a side and they were tasty, fresh and hot. Definitely will go back next time we visit the kiddo - wish it was in our home town.
the lovely girls here r so nice, bein new to the tx area (from west coast) ive nvr experienced the famed "southern hospitality" until now & wow, what a difference! ... & the place is cute & clean, & the food is great--with gd portions & reasonable prices! overall great spot, will definitely recommend & return!
I've had Main Street BBQ before but always as takeout. Yesterday my boyfriend and I drove from Denison to Durant to pick up some metal then decided dining in at Main Street BBQ sounded like a good plan.. We were not disappointed ? The atmosphere is great, the staff is fun and the food is always on point... I'd drive from Texas any day to enjoy their greatness?
The food was good. Nothing extraordinary, but surpassed my expectations. The ribs were tender and everything had a good flavor. The pulled pork wasn't mushy (overcooked) like most places. The pineapple sausage is well worth a try. Our server was polite and attentive to our table. The atmosphere was nothing special, but the welcoming vibe from the staff gave the place an at home feel.
Had the Rib platter. It came with two sides so I got potatoe salad and BBQ beans. I got one mild sauce and one spicy as I wasnt sure which one was better. So the beans were pretty good, but they seemed to follow the theme of sweetness that goes most of the food served here. The potato salad was again good but kind of sweet. The ribs were the best part (as they should be) they were tender and cooked just right. The taste was very good. Some of the best ribs I've had in awhile. My meal came with six ribs and two sides for 12.99, which I thought was a great barging. Especially after tasting the ribs. So if your in Durant America and have a hankering for some BBQ definitely hit this place up.
Greeted and seated promptly. The server, Austin J., was friendly and efficient. He checked backed several times during the meal and offered “to go” refills on our drinks. Hubby started with a bowl of chili. It was good but seemed to be missing something. I thought the chili flavor could be more robust (not more heat). He thought it might need some cheese and or sour cream as an accompaniment. His main entree was fried catfish with Mac & cheese and green beans. The catfish was coated with seasoned cornmeal and fried. Hubby said the texture was a bit mushy and seemed undercooked; however, the flavor was good. The Mac & cheese was homemade and hit the comfort food spot; green beans were just ok. I had the Bacon Ranch Crispy Chicken salad. I subbed the crispy chicken with smoked chicken breast. The chicken was moist and flavorful. It was a large salad of mixed dark leafy greens, tomatoes, cucumbers, cheddar cheese and real Hickory smoked bacon. The only recommendation would be to use homemade buttermilk ranch dressing instead of bottled. Overall, if we come this way again, we would definitely stop here.
